Ok, I missed the first race of the season, but it was for a good reason: my friend’s 40th birthday up in Boston, I didn’t want to miss the chance to see everyone. SO, next race is May 15th at Englishtown, so the race season (and tumblr season) is getting back underway. Getting the bike ready over the next few weekends. To get the lowdown on the season, check www.esmra.com
Supermoto race today up in Cuddebackville NY! Night time race so plenty of time to get up there. Head on up! Track is also open 10-1 for practice as well. More info at www.esmra.com and www.ovrp.com
Almost race weekend! Weather looks good, fingers crossed. If you don’t know - Eastern Supermoto Racing Association (ESMRA.com) is having a race this weekend at Raceway Park (etownraceway.com). Come on out! Track is great, pretty big. Race is Sunday afternoon.
Very sad news, if you watch Moto2 at all, you know Shoya Tomizawa was a likable young guy who was always smiling, as you can see in the photo above. He seemed absolutely thrilled to be out there. He had an accident today at San Marino and was then also hit by a bike.

Tech! I spent a lot of time getting my bike ready for the next race, which for me will be at Etown on Sept 19th (Sunday). You can see above the routing of my vent hoses, which for racers, is interesting (maybe). For non-racers, this is the most boring post ever. The catch can is a UFO one, been going on two seasons.
Takes time but it’s important to get your bike sorted for race/track days. It’s even gratifying. Being in town this weekend, I spent some time ion the garage: New engine oil and filter, new transmission oil, safety wired everything, checked valve clearances (I know! still solid), and washed the bike (kinda). It’s not a weekend at the beach, but that’s next weekend, and now things are ready to race. I should really change my fork oil too, have yet to do that on this bike at all, but you gotta draw the line somewhere, right?
If you have any questions about tech inspection, check out this post on my former Ning site - nycsupermoto.ning.com. Runs though catch cans, safety wiring, and some other stuff, plus Al chimes in with some additional advice.
August 14th, NJ, Saturday track day. Englishtown track days are pretty awesome, you just get to click off lap after lap and really get to know the layout. I did about 5 sessions this last track day, and it really got me stoked on riding. I couldn’t make the race Saturday, but I reblogged video below. Nice video, thank you for that!
Esmra has canceled the outing at Cherry Valley, and Beaver Run is a long haul, so unfortunately I can’t make that one. Whoever goes, I’ll try to get some info up here. The next Etown date is a race on 9/19, followed by an OVRP date 10/2, and a last Etown race 10/24 (Sunday, with a practice/track day on Saturday). See you at Etown, and hopefully OVRP too. See you out there.

So, given that Ning now wants $20 a month to keep a community alive, I am switching to Tumblr to talk about Supermoto (and Motocross) track days. I hit up Englishtown’s track last weekend for a full day of practice, and will post photod from that this week. I also welcome other people’s contributions, so if you hit up the ESMRA race this past weekend, let me know. I’ll also be figuring out a way to pull all of the info, tech tips, and blog posts from http://nycsupermoto.ning.com. In the meantime, check out the old site!
